LUDUS - playful love; infatuation; promiscuity<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

Do not undervalue the gifts that infatuation with another brings you.<\/span><\/p>

The end will come, always.<\/span><\/p>

Give it a sacred burial when the time is right.<\/span><\/p>

It exists in all the heroes' tales.<\/span><\/p>

For romantic love, men will slay monsters; they will burn and decapitate; perform extreme feats of cruelty unto others to prove it.<\/span><\/p>

Desire lifts us to the clouds, makes us soar, but be careful\u2013we may circle in the air for an eternity, doomed never to land.<\/span><\/p>

Most of us have been there \u2013 the controlled or the controller.<\/span><\/p>

Jealousy has its place in the ecosystem of love. It is an initiatory wonder. It tells you, I love! I feel! I connect!<\/span><\/p>

But, be cautious. Like Ludus it has its expiration date.<\/span><\/p>

It can turn into obsession; mania. A tale as old as time. The murder ballads.<\/span><\/p>

The state.<\/span><\/p>

The cult.<\/span><\/p>

The busying of the self.<\/span><\/p>

Consuming. Being consumed.<\/span><\/p>

Ask yourself, what if you stopped, and let yourself feel all the other types of love?<\/span><\/p>

If one doubts; vacillates; doesn\u2019t trust, one can miss out on the gifts of <\/span>philia<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>

But its ephemerality is what makes it special. It is the most selfless love because you forget yourself within it.<\/span><\/p>

Therein lies the danger and joy of <\/span>philia<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>

I deepen my love for myself because in doing so I deepen my gratitude to the elements and forces that make me what I am. A unique cog in this surprising machine.<\/span><\/p>

PRAGMA - convenient; practical love, often the foundations of marriage; family; survival<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

Pragma has a bad press. Pragmatic can be seen as negative, a business transaction.<\/span><\/p>

But <\/span>pragma<\/span><\/em>, combined with <\/span>eros <\/span><\/em>and <\/span>philia<\/span><\/em> can be developed over time, tenderly and consciously. Pragma can be polyamorous.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

If done well, it can help you love more freely and deeply. It can open your eyes to all sorts of love for others; for the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Your focus will not narrow, but expand.<\/span><\/p>

You can leave it, but it will never leave you.<\/span><\/p>

It\u2019s a savage, wonderful beast. Treat it kindly, or it may turn on you.<\/span><\/p>

XENIA - hospitality; the hand of friendship extended to foreign guests<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>


<\/span><\/strong>Historically, hospitality to foreigners and guests was a moral obligation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Ancient Greeks saw <\/span>xenia <\/span><\/em>as one of the essential types of love.<\/span><\/p>

Do we fail ourselves and our ability to love, if we cannot extend the hand of friendship to people that are foreign to our own lands; spaces; zones of comfort?<\/span><\/p>

They made me irrationally afraid.<\/span><\/p>

And that I must accept them for what they are.<\/span><\/p>
