Smoking is deeply embedded within the cinematic style of Classic Hollywood, but intentionally so. It was heavily sponsored by tobacco companies who wanted their products to be associated with characters exhibiting the traits of being 'cool'. Cinematic smoking plays a role in the dialogue itself, punctuating speeches with drawn out pauses, inhales and exhalations, which in turn act like a metronome for good conversations. These architectural interventions manifest in various forms, from uncomfortable benches with armrests that prevent sleeping, to the installation of spikes on window sills to deter loitering, to sloped or divided seating arrangements to discourage group gatherings. While proponents argue that these designs are necessary to maintain order and safety in public spaces, the consequences reveal a more sinister motive: to make these spaces unwelcoming for certain individuals, particularly those who may be experiencing homelessness or struggling with mental health issues.","published":true,"metaImage":{"thumbnail":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/pnkmdorpmiwa1ah9fatdak2qxayharbiprmvt0u3msb5veqx.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&h=855","banner":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/pnkmdorpmiwa1ah9fatdak2qxayharbiprmvt0u3msb5veqx.jpeg.jpg?w=1920&h=1440"},"hidden":0},{"id":26438,"title":"I  Neither Liked Nor Disliked It","url":"\/blog\/i-neither-liked-nor-disliked-it\/","urlTitle":"i-neither-liked-nor-disliked-it","division":209850,"description":"Rebecca W Morris and Matteo Delred collaborate through short form text and videos in response to how the world has become so loud, and the impact it has on our desire to be heard and to connect with others.","published":true,"metaImage":{"thumbnail":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/xjxdde9fveoddrvdoh4w5qcox3j6jbkhvrncitrmpndm6itg.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&h=855","banner":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/xjxdde9fveoddrvdoh4w5qcox3j6jbkhvrncitrmpndm6itg.jpeg.jpg?w=1920&h=1440"},"hidden":0}],"labels":[]}
